Picture book is meant as commentary on the common behaviors, anxieties, and contradictions inherent in the human experience

This illustrated parable reflects their “bird’s-eye view of humanity” to reminding readers of their collective universal human experience.
The author Deena Karabell (aka D.NA), used simple poetic text and colorful illustrations explore how individuals search for truth, experience vulnerability, and navigate the complexities of life. Written in simple verse, the book follows everyday actions and vulnerabilities while highlighting the search for connection, creating distance and handling emotional pain.
“My deep affinity for the emotional/feeling life we all share, our inner DNA, moves me and shapes my expression,” said Karabell. “It has always been important to me to reinforce the reality that this inner world is the universal link in the chain of humanity.”
Collaboratively created over several years with multimedia Turkish artist and visual designer Elif Olnap, Karabell originally published this book as a compact paperback shortly before her passing in May of 2024. The book has been brought back by her close family and friends in a larger hardcover format designed to fully honor its artistic vision and spiritual message.
