COUNTRY MUSIC STAR WYNONNA JUDD TO BE HONORED WITH PRESTIGIOUS ASCAP GOLDEN NOTE AWARD

“Wynonna’s legendary career is defined by a singular, powerhouse voice and a rich body of work that has permanently shaped the landscape of American music,” said ASCAP Chairman of the Board and President Paul Williams. “As we honor her with the ASCAP Golden Note Award, we celebrate a true trailblazer whose soulful, unmistakable sound continues to inspire generations of music creators.”

With the release of her 1992 self-titled solo debut, Wynonna emerged as an exceptional force in American music. Beyond five Grammy Awards, multi-platinum albums and sold-out tours, the country/soul vocalist built on the Appalachian traditionalism that defined The Judds to create a world where a top 5 dance/club hit was as possible as being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Having practically grown up as America’s favorite musical daughter, Wynonna matured into a woman who embraced how life is filled with peaks and valleys, great thrills and heavy disappointment. Those realities informed her five-times platinum Wynonna and platinum-selling Tell Me Why, albums that gave voice to every human being emerging into adulthood with joy in their heart. Beyond the groundbreaking music she and her mother created as The Judds, Wynonna has grown into her once-in-a-generation vocal prowess with an ease that made people flock to her. “No One Else on Earth,” “Tell Me Why,” “She Is His Only Need,” “Girls with Guitars” and “I Saw the Light” set the next chapter in motion for the girl from Ashland, Kentucky who became a global superstar.

Most recently, Wynonna released The Hard Truth (via ANTI-Records). The 10-track project was her first time co-writing an album – one that masterfully weaves her own painful trials with resounding joy and triumph. In its first week, the album garnered over 1.3 million streams and debuted in the top 10 on Billboard‘s Top Album Sales chart. Wynonna is currently on the road on The Hard Truth Tour, a 33-date tour that brings her unmistakable voice, powerhouse performances and deeply personal new music to audiences across North America.

The award will be presented at the ASCAP Nashville Songwriters Celebration on Monday, November 16 in Nashville. The invitation-only celebration recognizes the songwriters and publishers of the past year’s most-performed ASCAP country and Christian songs.

About ASCAP
The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) is a membership association of more than 1.1 million songwriters, composers and music publishers, and represents some of the world’s most talented music creators. Founded and governed by songwriters, composers and publishers, it returns nearly 90 cents of every dollar collected to its members as royalties and has the lowest overhead of any U.S. PRO. ASCAP licenses a repertory of over 20 million musical works to hundreds of thousands of businesses that use music, including streaming services, cable television, radio and satellite radio and brick and mortar businesses such as retail stores, hotels, clubs, restaurants and bars. ASCAP collects the licensing fees, and identifies, matches, processes and pays royalties to its members for trillions of performances every year. The ASCAP blanket license offers an efficient solution for businesses to legally perform ASCAP music while respecting the right of songwriters and composers to be paid fairly. ASCAP puts music creators first, advocating for their rights and the value of music on Capitol Hill, driving innovation that moves the industry forward, building community and providing the resources and support that creators need to succeed in their careers.
