A script is never late. Everyone else is simply early.
Princess Diaries author Meg Cabot confirmed that she’s read the script for the upcoming Princess Diaries 3 movie, and she approves.
“I read a script, and it was amazing,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published June 26. “I told them not to send anymore, because I love it so much.”
“They don’t like it when you tell people what’s gonna happen yet,” Cabot added. “So I was like, ‘Better not send me any more scripts!’”
The novelist also joked, “I have a problem keeping my mouth shut.”
Cabot’s seal of approval comes after Anne Hathaway—who stars in the series as Mia Thermopolis—noted in an April interview with Entertainment Weekly that the team behind the film was “100%, we’re constantly working on” the sequel.
She also acknowledged at the time that a third Princess Diaries movie ultimately had to take a backseat in 2025 when The Devil Wears Prada 2 “cropped up unexpectedly and took over the space.”
“It became impossible to focus on both at the same time,” she continued, adding that her “intention is to make Princess Diaries hopefully next.”
