Athenian Group's Tanyan Farley to Speak at 2026 ICMA Annual Conference

Senior Vice President of Client Solutions to share lessons from large-scale regional coordination and their application to complex projects in communities nationwide

HOUSTON, Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Athenian Group is proud to announce that Tanyan Farley, Senior Vice President of Client Solutions, will speak at the 2026 International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Annual Conference, taking place October 17–21 in Long Beach, California.

Farley will present “From the Olympics to Your City: A Playbook for Coordinating Infrastructure Across Agencies, Municipalities, and Mega-Projects,” a session exploring one of the increasingly complex challenges facing local governments: how to successfully coordinate major initiatives that extend across jurisdictions, agencies and organizations.

The session draws on Athenian Group’s experience supporting Los Angeles County’s regional coordination and readiness efforts for the upcoming regional games. Preparing a region as large and complex as Los Angeles for a global event requires numerous agencies, municipalities and infrastructure initiatives to work toward shared objectives and an immovable deadline.

As part of that effort, Athenian Group developed the LA County 2028 Games Coordination Platform and methodology to help bring critical elements of regional readiness into a more coordinated framework. The approach integrates areas such as task management, budget oversight, risk analysis and multi-agency collaboration, helping stakeholders establish greater visibility and accountability across interconnected projects.

During his ICMA session, Farley will take lessons learned from that large-scale undertaking and translate them into practical strategies local government leaders can apply within their own communities.

“The upcoming Los Angeles regional events provide an extraordinary example of coordination, but the underlying challenge is one local governments encounter every day,” Farley said. “Major infrastructure projects rarely stop at a city limit or fit neatly within the responsibilities of a single agency. Our goal is to share a framework that helps leaders bring those moving pieces together, establish accountability and create a clearer path from planning to execution.”

Farley’s presentation will explore how leaders can identify gaps in traditional approaches to cross-jurisdictional projects, establish stronger systems for regional coordination and apply those strategies to initiatives ranging from major infrastructure and utility projects to data center development and large-scale regional events.

The 2026 ICMA Annual Conference is expected to bring together more than 5,000 local government professionals, department heads and deputies from around the world for education, professional development and discussion of the most pressing issues facing communities today. The 112th annual conference will be held at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center.

As Senior Vice President of Client Solutions at Athenian Group, Farley is a leader, program manager and consultant with extensive experience supporting large, complex programs and organizational change initiatives. His work includes major capital relocation, transformation and process improvement programs for municipal governments and private-sector organizations, with an emphasis on strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, risk reduction and effective program delivery.

Farley leads program delivery for Athenian Group and brings cross-sector experience to the firm’s work with public- and private-sector clients. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Rice University.
