Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Lu Dort, teammates with the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks, led unbeaten Canada to a 97-92 win over Argentina in FIBA men’s basketball World Cup 2027 World Cup Americas Qualifier action on Monday night.
Alexander-Walker had 26 points and five assists, while Dort chipped in with 25 points.
Canada trailed 29-23 after the first quarter and 53-48 at halftime, but took a 73-69 lead into the final quarter.
Mfiondu Kabengele had 11 rebounds for Canada, which improved to 8-0 in Group F and essentially guaranteed themselves a berth in the World Cup in Qatar next summer.
Nicolas Laprovittola led Argentina (6-2) with 31 points, while Nicolas Brussino chipped in with 11 points.
Canada led in rebounds (35-33), shooting percentage (48-47), offensive rebounds (10-8) and assists (23-19).
