The Canadian author whose novels were adapted into Crave’s Heated Rivalry series has announced that she is delaying the release of the third book of her hockey romance series.

In a video posted on Instagram, Rachel Reid said that her busy promotional schedule and worsening symptoms of Parkinson’s disease in the last couple of months have made it physically more difficult for her to write.

The author said the release date for Unrivaled, her third book chronicling the love story of hockey rivals Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, will be on June 1, 2027, instead of this September.
Thanking fans for their support of the TV series, the author said, “There’s nothing more important to me than Unrivaled being the best book it can possibly be.”
She added, “When good things happen, sometimes the universe hands you some bad stuff to balance things out, and in my case, it’s been my Parkinson’s.”

Author has opened up about Parkinson’s batttle
She has said that she initially learned she had Parkinson’s in 2023, around the time director Jacob Tierney contacted her and expressed interest in adapting her work.
Unrivaled is the seventh book from the author’s Game Changers series, and her third book chronicling the secret romance of Canadian Hollander and Russian Rozanov.
Crave’s TV series, starring Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, is based on her first two books, Heated Rivalry and The Long Game.
The show became an instant overnight sensation since its release in late 2025 and early 2026, drawing many to binge-watched the six-episode series.
