Police are investigating after a pedestrian was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in North York on Saturday.

Toronto Police said officers responded at 8:13 p.m. to a personal injury collision in the Yonge St.-Wedgewood Dr. area.

Police alleged that a 48-year-old woman was operating a BMW SUV northbound on Yonge and that a female pedestrian was crossing Yonge from the west side to the east side when she was struck.

The driver remained at the scene and the pedestrian was transported to a hospital.

Hamilton cops called to ‘hate-motivated’ protest

Hamilton Police said it was made aware of what it described as an “unscheduled protest at Hamilton City Hall” early Sunday involving a group “identified as a white supremacist organization.”

Officers attended the area; however, the individuals had dispersed and were no longer present upon officers’ arrival.

Police described the protest as being “hate motivated.

“There were no reports of criminal activity related to this incident,” Hamilton Police said in a news release issued on Sunday night.

“The Hamilton Police Service recognizes the impact incidents like this can have on our community. Hate has no place in Hamilton and we do not tolerate it in any form,”
