No energy superpower

The headline last weekend was “Carney pitches Asia on Canada as energy superpower.” Huh? Hard sell when we have no way of getting our product to market, and given his puck-dragging here at home that’s unlikely to change in the foreseeable future.

JERRY HILL

(He can’t even get his own party to completely buy into the idea of Canada as an energy superpower)

Epstein files the holdup

The Epstein files is the key element keeping the U.S. government shut down. The Trump White House will only open up the government when the embarrassing and controversial Epstein file evidence is somehow lost, stolen, misplaced, burnt, erased or just mysteriously disappears forever.

R. MOSKAL

(Many folks believe the Epstein files are playing a role)

Nenshi out to lunch

Mr. Nenshi thinks students should be kept out of school until the Smith government bends, increases the provincial debt (plus interest), and offers more than the federal government pays to run the entire nationwide CBC network?

(It would appear so)

Don’t rely on U.S.

Trading with China as much as possible is the right thing to do. Yes, China is a Communist dictatorship but the U.S. is on its way to an authoritarian tyranny. The key component here is that Xi Jinping is much more reliable and forthright than Donald Trump, who enjoys throwing tariffs our way like it was confetti. Trying to find as many trading partners as we can outside of the U.S., particularly in Europe, S.E. Asia, India and South America, is much more desirable for our economy. Even if Trump makes a deal with Canada, he likely won’t honour it anyway and he’ll do what he wants. Dealing with a dishonest individual like Trump will only cause headaches for the Canadian economy. The man has no ethics or morals so if I were Canada, removing ourselves as much as possible from this U.S. psychopath is our only path to success.

MARIA WEISS

(Diversifying our portfolio, as it were, is definitely the way to go)

Let’s talk about unions

We need to have a talk about unions in Canada. Unions once had a purpose in collective bargaining, but now they just hold taxpayers to ransom. The unions in this country have just become breeding grounds for radical Marxist Communism, an ideology that has no place in a free and democratic country. At the last federal gov’t public servants strike, union members were seen carrying communist hammer-and-sickle flags. These are the very people that vote for the Carney communist Liberal Party.
