Starting during the early 20th century as a classic girls’ school shoe, Mary Janes are characterized by their low-top profile, square toe, and a strap over the middle. They became the modern platform version we’re familiar with today in the 90s, when they became popular for their patent leather design and styling versatility. 

Flash forward to now, ballet sneakers have brought a whole new world of cute sneakers into existence. The Mary Jane sneaker trend is just beginning, and we’re sure it’ll continue throughout the rest of the year.
